It’s 2014 Already?

Man, I can NOT believe that it is already the year 2014! It seems like 2013 just flew by!

So it’s getting to the point in my mission now where even crazy stuff that happens to me on a weekly basis, does not seem very crazy. This week wasn’t out of the ordinary… for a missionary. But I still am having trouble deciding what to put in here… so hopefully it doesn’t seem like I’m rambling too much!

So, New Years Eve: We had to be in by 6:00 and we planned until the end of the night! BUT, before we went in, a MIRACLE happened! A sister in our ward texted us and asked if we wanted to come over for dinner. That has never happened to me before. So we asked if there would be any less-actives or non-members there, and she said yes! So we said, YES! Then, she asked us if we wanted steak, lobster, shrimp or king crab. We both thought she was kidding, so we said all of them. We showed up and guess what? They actually had all of them!! And extra! I guess they do it every new years eve, but I was completely shocked and have never eaten so much meat in my life haha. It was awesome.

New Years day: I have NEVER talked to more hung over mean people in my life haha, so this day was pretty slow. We had one guy offer us some beer so that was nice of him, but we humbly replied, “No thanks, want the gospel?” And, unfortunately, he declined haha.

Then the rest of the week was pretty generic stuff, finding new investigators, teaching the gospel and whatnot. Nothing that big happened in our area, BUT a guy in Westbank I found on exchanges got baptized on Sunday so that was awesome! One of our investigators and his family had to cancel our appointment and didn’t come to church because of a “family emergency” and another investigator didn’t get baptized either, so it was a slower week for sure. Just a lot of door knocking.

My testimony has really grown since I’ve been out on my mission. I’ve come to learn that the faith and hope I’ve had in Christ since I was a child really sets me apart from normal people in this world. The people that don’t have that faith and hope are so lost and sad, it literally brings sorrow to my soul! I am so glad that I have this opportunity to bring the Lord’s sheep back to the fold. The Lord knows us because we are his sheep. He really does know and understand us and all of our trials. And he will never forsake us, because we are His sheep and he is leading us back to the Father! I know this with all the surety of my heart. The testimony that I leave with you all this week is that the Lord will help you in all things and I can guarantee you that he is already helping you. Just continue to call on His strength and meekly and submissively push through your challenges. It is all for a reason.

That’s about it for this week! Have a great week everybody! I love all of you!

With love,

–Elder Rushton The Third
